Whether you are a recruiter and/or a hiring manager spending time on creating job descriptions, AI can be a big help. Here are four AI prompts to help you to help AI to provide better results for your job postings.

Prompt 1

"Generate a job description for a [job title] position at [company name]. Use this brief as the main responsibility and qualifications as a guide: [brief]."

Example: Generate a job description for a Python developer at Acme. Use this brief as the main responsibility and qualifications as a guide: Must have 4+ years of experience as a Python developer, specifically with Flask. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar is a plus but not required.

Why this works?

You’re being specific with not only the role/position you’re wanting to fill, but also the requirements and qualifications that will be needed to fill the role.

Prompt 2

"Create a job description for a [job title] role. Include [key responsibilities], [qualifications]."

Example: Create a job description for a Python developer role. Include Flask experience, specifically building backend systems, 4+ years of Python development experience, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar is a plus but not required.

Why this works?

Being specific with not only the requirements of the role you’re trying to fill, but also the responsibilities of the role will be advantageous and helpful to candidates reading the job description.

Prompt 3

"Develop a job description outline for a [job title] role. Include sections for job summary, responsibilities, qualifications, and additional information about the company."

Example: Develop a job description outline for a Python developer role. Include sections for job summary, responsibilities, qualifications, and additional information about the company.

Why this works?

Similar to the last one, by trusting the AI’s capabilities to create a job description without additional information about the job, the result of this job description will provide you with a reusable template. Think mad-libs for job descriptions.

Prompt 4

"Generate a draft job description for a [job title] position. Focus on outlining the core responsibilities and preferred qualifications, leaving room for customization based on individual job postings."

Example:  Generate a draft job description for a Python Developer position. Focus on outlining the core responsibilities and preferred qualifications, leaving room for customization based on individual job postings.

Why this works?

Similar to the last one, by trusting the AI’s capabilities to create a job description without additional information about the job, the result of this job description will provide you with a reusable template. Think mad-libs for job descriptions.
